In Spring 2020, audio dramatist Fred Greenhalgh created his first audio drama workshop, a 5-week free online course called “So You Wanna Make Audio Fiction?”
This immersive, practical lecture series walks students through all stages involved in creating audio drama… Including a brief intro and history of the medium, writing, directing, acting, recording, editing, sound design, music, and release! By the end of the course, students leave with a complete short audio fiction work to call their own. This is a making-focused series, which emphasizes that learning is an ongoing process… exemplified by the fact that Fred himself learned new programs (Reaper and Audacity) so as to show students a low-cost alternative to expensive professional tools, as well as a whole new way to record (remote recording), a response to the Covid-19 epidemic.
Fred would never ask students to do something he wasn’t willing to do himself, so during the 5-week course, he himself completed a short radio program as a teaching example to the students.
Enjoy this free video lecture series, and please go out and create great work! The world needs your voice!

Want to make your own thing and don’t have a script?
Fred has offered more than a dozen (!) of his early works as FREE scripts to use for non-commercial and educational audio projects, only catch is that attribution is required.
Want to book Fred to teach something with you?
Fred loves teaching! He’s available to teach on audio drama generally (the 5-week course above could easily become a full semester offering), or on focused topics such as scriptwriting, directing, editing, sound design, mixing/mastering, and distribution/promotion. Offerings can be single one-off workshops or longer commitments.
